VP Records and Greensleeves Records continue to supply key catalog titles on 45 rpm 7-inch and 12-inch vinyl.
Recent reissues include a follow-up to VP’s reissue of the iconic Mr. Isaacs LP in July, “Storm” makes its first ever appearance on a 7-inch 45 rpm single (VP9640), one of the few of the ‘rhythm foundation’ tracks that never had a 7-inch pressing. “Storm” is backed here with “Leggo Dub,” the title track to the recently reissued Ossie Hibbert dub LP.
Sylford Walker’s 1975 rockers anthem “Burn Babylon,” produced by the late duo of Joe Gibbs and Errol Thompson, is presented on a reproduction of the original Belmont label 45 (VP9542).
The title track to Johnny Osbourne’s magnificent 1982 Greensleeves LP Never Stop Fighting is now available in its first legitimate 7-inch release on a throwback VP/Jah Guidance label (VP9633). The 45 is backed with the Scientist / Roots Radics dub “Dangerous Match Six,” originally from Scientist Wins The World Cup.
Finally, another Greensleeves 12-inch gem will be out in September, the Wailing Souls “Who No Waan Come,” backed with Al Campbell’s “Unfaithful Children,” a first time repress of this Linval Thompson discomix classic (GRED51).
