RENOWN American gospel reggae group, Christafari, is coming to Kenya this January.
With more than 18 albums under its name, the group will kick-start its series of concerts dubbed Kenya Missions Trip, in Nairobi on January 21-25 at the Nairobi’s Calvary Chapel. Then they will head to the International Christian Center, Kibera, Nairobi Chapel and Parklands Baptist Church. They also plan to go to Mbita, Oyugis and Home Bay until January 31.
With over 500,000 albums sold worldwide, Christafari is the top selling gospel reggae group of all-time. Over the years the group has shared billing with nearly every major reggae artiste including Bunny Wailer, Lucky Dube, Big Mountain, Burning Spear, Dennis Brown, Freddie McGregor, The Wailing Souls, Capleton, Israel Vibration, Culture, Buju Banton and Wayne Wonder. Some of it’s popular singles include Why You A-go Look? and Teachings of His Majesty.
The group – which was formed in 1989 by songwriter, producer and lead vocalist, Mark Mohr – has had its highlight performances at the US 1997 Presidential Inaugural Ball, 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Among their most popular albums include Reggae Worship Volume I, Soulfire, Valley of Decision, No Compromise, Dubshots, Reggae Worship: A Roots Revival and the latest Reggae Christmas.
