Spotify Paying Subscribers Soars Above 70M

Spotify’s latest partnership helps musicians sell ‘experiences’ to fans

By: Michelle Arthurton

Spotify has added 10M to its paying subscribers in the past five months. The combined amount has pushed it up to 70M.

Spotify’s chief rival in the streaming market, Apple Music, is growing closer to one million subscribers per month.

This 70M subscribers news is the right timing for Spotify, as it hopes to attract investors.

However, Spotify still has a grey cloud lingering over their heard with a 1.6 billion lawsuit from Wixen, the publisher for international recording artist Neil Young, which claims that Spotify benefited from “willful copyright infringement” concerning mechanical licenses in the United States market.
