-Bob Marley and The Wailers Makes Chart History In The U.K. With His Most Popular Album

Bob Marley and The Wailers’ Legend, a compilation of their successful singles and fan-favorite tunes, is now on the albums ranking in England at No. 49. Still, it’s the number of weeks the title has charted that is unbelievable.

Legend has now landed between Nos. 1 and 100 in England for 900 nonconsecutive weeks. It is the second-highest number of turns spent on the list. Earlier in the year, ABBA’s Gold: Greatest Hits became the first title in U.K. history to reach the 900-week benchmark, and now Marley’s compilation is just the second to do so.

Throughout its 900 frames on the chart, Legend has come and gone, rising and falling due to several factors. The set spent its first twelve weeks at No. 1, and it ended up racking up a total of 30 turns inside the top 10. The release has earned an astounding 217 spins inside the top 40. A tenure longer than some of even the most successful albums of the past decade.

Initially released in 1984, Legend has gone on to become one of the most successful musical releases of all time, and it has sold tens of millions of copies around the world in the decades it has been available.
