SOUND system Renaissance Disco will mark 25 years in the business with a party dubbed Monument at Mas Camp in New Kingston on Friday.
According to Renaissance’s disc jock and front man Delano Thomas, the party not only serves to mark a major milestone, but to celebrate with their loyal fans.
“We have a lot in store for patrons, so everyone needs to come out and join in the fun. Pre-sold tickets will automatically be entered into a draw for a chance to win a free trip to New York courtesy of Fly Jamaica,” Thomas said.
In addition to Renaissance, Coppershot, Stone Love, DJ Lank (Code Red) and special guest DJ Babey Drew (Chris Brown’s DJ) will be performing. Drew is featured in the American reality TV show Love and Hip Hop on VH1.
“We will have a premium set up, and a spectacular ambiance which you cannot miss. There’ll be premium bottle service and table available,” he said.
Known for its infectious remixes, Renaissance was the first such Jamaican sound system to be featured on American station BET in the late 1990s. Renaissance has produced several riddims including the Stepz, which features Sean Paul’s We Be Burning. Their remix of Beenie Man and Chevelle Franklin’s Dancehall Queen peaked at number 64 on the Billboard R&B Hip Hop Singles Chart.
