English singer and songwriter Ali Campbell who was the lead singer and a member of the English reggae band UB40, is working on a new UB40 biopic detailing their highs and lows.
The singer has revealed he’s teaming up with ‘Quadrophenia’ producer Bill Curbishley on a UB40 biopic. He has promised not to leave no stone unturned in the film, which will see Ali share his side of the story.
UB40 formed in December 1978 in Birmingham, England. The band has had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Charts, and has also achieved considerable international success. Campbell left UB40 in 2008 and has been doing solo tours.
However, there has been long-standing warring amongst the group fighting over the right to use the band’s name when they tour, bankruptcy, and the rivalry between the family members.
Campbell has insisted he won’t be asking his siblings for permission for the biopic. He said: ”I wouldn’t bother trying to get rights. ”I would tell it how it was instead of all the crap written from their side. ”It would be great.”
