The Barbadian singer, songwriter, record producer, businesswoman, fashion designer, actress, and philanthropist, Rihanna, showcased that she also has a heart of gold once again. She recently vowed to help the Bahamas with relief efforts after the country was devastated by a hurricane for almost two days. Hurricane Dorian tore through the island, destroying everything in her path. The storm rampaged the Bahamas with Category 5 winds up to 185 mph (295 kph) and relentless, hard rains, flooding neighborhoods and destroying or severely damaging properties and infrastructures.
After numerous videos and photos of the utter and complete disaster circulated all over social media and on several news outlets, the singer shared how she felt about the tragedy. She tweeted, It truly breaks my heart to see the complete devastation that #HurricaneDorian is having on the Bahamas!. She later posted another tweet vowing to help, “You are in our prayers and @ClaraLionelFdn is already figuring out how best we can help! #HurricaneDorain #Bahamas” Rihanna started the Clara Lionel Foundation back in 2012 in honor of her grandparents.
The Foundation was set up to support and fund groundbreaking and effective education, health, and emergency response programs around the world, according to its official website. Current programs or projects include primary and secondary education programs in Malawi, Senegal, and her birthplace Barbados.
